The Future is Now, ANGELYNE Gets a TV Show!!!

You know Angelyne, the Hollywood Icon everyone ❤️s, whom everyone in LA has a story about, and who was never really famous for anything other than her billboards.



My first memory of her is from the opening of Moonlighing in the mid 80’s, so everytime I see her I think of Bruce Willis whom I would bet money on that they totally shtooped.

Now she will be the subject of a TV show.  "ANGELYNE," a scripted limited-series starring Emmy Rossum, will be based on The Hollywood Reporter’s viral story of Angelyne’s transformation from Polish refugee to the candy-dipped Queen of Los Angeles.



The Hollywood Reporter says that Emmy Rossum will play Angelyne in a limited series. She’s teaming up with Mr. Robot creator (and her husband) Sam Esmail. Emmy and Sam bought the rights to THR writer Gary Baum’s investigative profile of the Los Angeles billboard goddess Angelyne (born name: Renee Goldberg). Gary discovered that Angelyne was born in Poland in 1950 to two Holocaust survivors and her family later moved to Los Angeles, where she eventually reinvented herself as a peroxide bombshell who rules the streets of L.A. in her pink Corvette.



“I have always been fascinated by the enigma that is Angelyne. At a young age, I can vividly remember staring up at her on a billboard above me and wondering, ‘Who is that woman?’ Gary Baum’s investigative journalism has finally unearthed the true, complex identity of the infamous woman who has fascinated Los Angeles for over 30 years. From the moment I read Gary’s recent piece, I knew I had to tell this story. It’s a poignant and bizarre tale about the hunger for fame, the sexualization of women and the erasing of past traumas.” Says Emmy Rossum

Emmy and Sam will both executive produce alongside Chad Hamilton. They’re currently shopping the project around to networks.



I once approached Angelyne about doing a reality show, and her response was that she charges for meetings.  She wanted me to PAY her to meet her to talk about developing a show about HER.  Hysterical.  I did once pay for a picture of her outside of El Coyote, where she is ALL the time and I always meet TONS of "stars."  After my friend snaped the pic, she grabbed my phone and deleted about 10 of the ones she hated, and then demanded a reshoot.  It was so funny.  My friend thought she was insane.  I thought it was INCREDIBLE...I mean she does drive around town selling t-shirts out of the trunk of her pink convertable...what do you expect.



She is super nice, and even gave me her buisness card.  I never called.
