The Classics Come To Life

Sometimes it's the treasures of yesteryear that keep Hollywood fresh. Such could be the case with the next chapter in the history of Hollywood's cherished Chinese Theatre, which is hosting their first-ever exhibit of memorabilia.

The exhibit, the "Hollywood Legends" collection, includes almost 1,000 costumes from beloved films and television shows, and debuts in Los Angeles September 30 at the Chinese Theatre.

Among the treasures are Marilyn Monroe’s gold lame, pleated halter gown from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” (1953), Rita Hayworth’s black satin ball gown from her “Put The Blame on Mame” number in "Gilda" (1946), Vivian Leigh’s green velvet drapery gown from “Gone With the Wind” (1939) and Judy Garland’s blue and white gingham pinafore and blouse from “The Wizard of Oz” (1939).

Additionally, there will be props and accessories on display from several famous films.

The exhibit, which has traveled to global destinations in Italy, Japan, and Russia, as well as to San Francisco last year, will be in the Chinese Theatre's lobby, and will be open daily during normal operating hours as a free, added attraction for movie ticket holders and VIP tour guests.

We are looking for homes in Los Angeles for a brand new home makeover show!

Do you or someone you know have a home that is insanely decorated? CRAZY OVER THE TOP? OR Completely Tasteless? Or Unbearably Embarrassing? Or Totally Out-Dated? OR Just Plain Ugly? Do you argue with your spouse or children over the way your home looks?

Celebrity Contractor and Renowned Do-It-Yourselfer, Eric Stromer and his team of interior designers want to redesign and transform your home with a $20,000.00 makeover.

Inside Lucille Ball's Dressing Room

One of the greatest reason to heart Hollywood is that the entire city is a glimpse into the past. Every street was once a set, and most buildings are recognizable from some film or TV show. This is where that past and present combine.

Case in point, Paramount Studios. (A little known fact is that Paramount studios offers tours of one of the greatest places in all of LA.) Paramount is one of the best studios to visit because it has been used in so many memorable movies and TV shows and is one of the most exciting places to feel Hollywood present and past.

Gary DeVaughn who works at Paramount takes us on a tour of Lucille Ball's actual dressing room at Paramount Studios. This was one of two Lucille Ball dressing rooms at the former Desilu-Gower studios; now part of the Paramount lot in Hollywood. (Originally RKO Studios 1928-1957). The same lot was Desilu-Gower 1957-1967 (Desilu was formed in 1950). This is an interesting and unique video because photos and videos are not usually permitted on the lot and also most people never get to go inside this room since it is usually an office.

Barry Manilow at the Hollywood Bowl

For the first time ever, Barry Manilow is set to perform at the Legendary Hollywood Bowl Staruday, Oct 24. Manilow will perform his hits in front of a 60-piece orchestra and will use the profits to raise money to get musical instruments into Los Angeles schools. To date Barry has alrady raided a half a million dollars for this cause that is part of the Grammy Foundation. Way to go Manilow, we heart you....and we will see you Sat night.

Scary In LA

One of the coolest things about living and working in Hollywood is the fact that there are so many unique things to do during the holidays, and Halloween is when Hollywood pulls out all the punches. If you heart a good scare be sure to check out the following:

1. Old Town Haunt in Pasadena. This award-winning walk-through attraction lead guest through the haunted basement of one of the oldest buildings in Old Town, the Union Saving Bank Building. Click here to check it out OldTownHaunt.

2. If you heart Universal movies you're gonna heart Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. It's here that you get to walk through the actual sets of some of the scariest movies of all time including The Bates Motel from the Psycho film. Click here for more info: Universal

3. A really unique attraction in Hollywood is the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. Each night a different celebrity (inluding Linda Blair) escorts you on this scary hay ride into the woods. Located at King Gillette Ranch, an area know for hosting the most prestigious parties in all of LA, this event threatens to scare the living crap out of you. For More info click here: Hayride

4. Knott's Scary Farm. Knott's first tricked out it's park 37 years ago and it's been building ever since. There are 6 stage shows and 13 mazes to scare you to death. Click here for more info: Haunt

5. Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Hunted Mansions, scary mazes and even a 3d lair....this place has it all. Click here for more info: Scream Park

6. The Haunted Queen Mary (formally "TerrorFest"). This ship offers one of the larges, darkest, and most ominous Halloween events in LA primarily because of the creepy factor that houses it, The Queen Mary, a Haunted vessel set in Long Beach Harbor.

New design show casting in LA and surrounding areas.

One of the reasons I heart Hollywood is the chance to be cast on different types of tv shows. This one is super cool. The casting team is looking for people with eclectic, flashy or even theme rooms to showcase. If picked on to be on the show, the homeowner will receive thousands of dollars in upgrades and prizes. How cool is that.

I heart Hollywood because on Sunday, even though there was a marine layer blocking out the Southern California sun from shining on my morning walk to the beach, I had to burn off last night’s tapas and apple martinis. So, I hit the beach path for a little exercise.

Walking down the Santa Monica Pier toward the ocean, I passed the finish line of a 5K race and recovering runners, brunchers with their mimosas, surfers heading for the waves. Further down along the beach, I took a five minute break to do a few yoga stretche before I turned back home and noticed a very attractive shirtless man and his personal trainer doing crunches next to me. I immediately recognized the trainer from Tuesday morning’s Today Show segment on how to get a celebrity physique. Celebrity trainer? Must be training a celebrity! Oh yeah, that hottie with the six-pack is none other than (Fergie’s husband/dreamy actor) Josh Duhamel. My heart started racing more during that stretching session than on my entire power walk thus far. Catching my breath and smiling to myself about how anything can happen in L.A., I headed back home, kicking up the pace a notch. I really heart Hollywood.
