Train Day

Now that there is a new Murder On The Orient Express, I think that it's the perfect time to book a trip on the LA RAIL the 1950's Nostalgic Rail Experience here in Los Angeles.

There are many different cars to choose from, but the highlight is The Overland Trail, a 1949 Pullman Standard Lounge from Southern Pacific. 39 lounge seats with historical and original quarter-round bar and barbershop.  The train goes from Union Station to Santa Barbara.  A perfect way to spend the day.

Taking a train trip on one of LA Rail's refurbished train cars is one of Los Angeles' best kept secrets. For the price of the ticket you get breakfast (including Belgian waffles) going to Santa Barbara and dinner coming back to Union Station. After you arrive in Santa Barbara, you have about 5 or 6 hours of free time.  There are a lot of winerys in Santa Barbara to hit and get your buzz on before heading back on the train for dinner.
