One day per year, six really cool and unique museums in Northeast Los Angeles and Pasadena get together and open their doors for free, and its called the Annual Museums of the Arroyo Day. What a great way to explore the history of Los Angeles and a perfect opportunity to brush up on historical architecture.
Celebrating a diverse mix of art, architecture, and history of the Arroyo Seco area, MOTA Day features six unique history-based museums that preserve and perpetuate early Los Angeles life. The public can visit one or all of the museums during the day at no charge.
So spend a Sunday afternoon making your way through the Gamble House (aka Doc Brown’s House from Back to the Future), Heritage Square, the L.A. Police Museum, Lummis Home, the Autry’s Historic Southwest Museum, and the Pasadena Museum of History.

Join us for Museums of the Arroyo Day on Sunday, May 20, 2018, when six museums in Los Angeles and Pasadena open their doors — free of charge — from noon to 5 p.m., with last museum entrance at 4 p.m.
Each year, thousands of Angelinos have experienced the diverse mix of art, architecture and history of the Arroyo Seco area found in the six unique history-based museums that preserve and perpetuate early Los Angeles life. Discover what continues to make the Arroyo Seco a bustling, vibrant arts-driven community that crosses neighborhoods and social boundaries.
The public can visit the MOTA museums during the day at no charge.
We encourage visitors to pace themselves and don’t try to see all six museums in one day. Pick three museums and explore at a leisurely pace.
As always, we expect great interest in MOTA Day, so visitors are advised to arrive early. We’ve added additional parking and you can easily use the Gold Line to get to MOTA Day, so click here for more information.
