“Network” on Broadway

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore"  Ok not really...how can we be mad at Bryan Cranston for bringing “Network” to Broadway this fall?

That's right, "Network" the incredible call to action movie written with Peter Finch, William Holden, and Faye Dunaway is now going to be a LIVE Broadway show with Brian Cranston playing Howard Beale, the network anchor who snaps.

This incredible and timely movie which could have come out today and not miss a beat, won four Oscars, one for Finch, one for Dunaway, one for supporting actress Beatrice Straight, and one for Chayefsky for Best Original Screenplay.

The film centers on news anchorman Howard Beale who isn't pulling in viewers, so in what is to be his final broadcast, he unravels live on screen, and as the ratings soar, Howard becomes the biggest thing on TV.  Looking at the sets, it looks like the show is going to be set in present day.  This is a great role Bryan Cranston, perfect casting.

They have to include this famous scene, as written....right?

"I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

There isn't a better time in history for a show about an anchorman who is so fed up with the world that he snaps.  That is why we ❤️this.  For a sneak peek, click HERE.
