Why Violet Beauregarde Should Have Won “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”

We here at #IheartHollywood like nothing more than people making a claim for what is right and what is wrong in the fictional world of Hollywood.  For instance, there is NO reason Dorothy should have wanted to come back home in The Wizard Of OZ.  Her home life was torturous, and in OZ she was a queen.

So it was no surprise to us when recently a Tumblr user named Evayna, started posting her disapproval to the movie ending of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

Evayna has a really big problem with who wins the chocolate factory at the end of the film, even claiming that ending was anti-women, and we have to admit her argument is pretty valid.

If you haven't seen Willie Wonka, first off SHAME ON YOU. But second...the rest of this post will contain spoilers so move on if you want.  Oh please, the move is like 50 years old.

At the end of Wonka, the poor male Charlie inherits the famous chocolate factory, but Evayna is calling BULLSHIT.  She says that the winner should have been Violet.

“The one who loves candy gets in trouble for eating candy in a candy factory tour where everywhere you go you eat candy. This is ludicrous.”

I mean Wonka himself did sing  "If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it, anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There's nothing to it."  Why were any of the kids punished?

She continues: “I’ve noticed women often respond a lot more positively than men do. I think we’ve all felt the unfair punishment for not being ‘ladylike’ and having our skills overlooked.”

It's hard not to agree with Evaya:

MIC DROP, and after reading these internet responses you guys do too.  Take a look, and you'll see...into your imagination:

Well, we couldn't have said it better ourselves. Maybe it was just a sign of the times. Personally, I think he should have given the factory to the Oompa Loompas...cause well, I ❤️workers who like to sing.  Just my opinion.  Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, we ❤️ ya.  XOOX

  1. Incorrect. There's a reason he's not just recruiting accounting majors from the best universities and it's the same reason he didn't pick lousy Violet Beauregarde. Here: https://youtu.be/4fxsEDptql8
