Olivia Newton-John’s Hollywood Nights
We ❤️ Olivia Newton-John's Hollywood Nights shot in Century City.
On April 14, 1980, before the red carpet was a thing, ABC aired a very "Hollywood" evening before the 52nd Academy Awards Ceremony with Olivia Newton-John's leading a one-hour television spectacular entitled Hollywood Nights.
In this variety special, Olivia shared the evening with Andy Gibb, Elton John, Ted Knight, Gene Kelly and Toni Tennille where she sang songs from Grease and her Totally Hot album as well as some other artists' covers : the Eagles, Bob Seger, Elton John and Buddy Holly. She also performed a parody of the jazz/blues classic Makin' Whoopee with Gene Kelly, changing the lyrics to "Makin' Movies" and dealing with Olivia's dream of producing a musical.
The show did very well in the ratings, as did her two previous US television specials on the same network. Another fun fact... Tina Turner's appearance on Olivia's special helped her sign a contract with then Olivia's manager Roger Davies, who ultimately helped her to go back into the spotlight.
We ❤️Olivia Newton-John, and we ❤️Hollywood Nights. xoxo

Olivia was one of my favorite artists of all time, had a big crush when I was a teen after Grease came out. Loved her voice and read a nice story in a central Georgia news site on her life.
