Whatever Happened To: The Cast Of "Flashdance”

Since "The Goldbergs" did an entire episode in homage to the movie "Flashdance" this week, we thought it would be a good time to find out what happened to the cast of the original movie.

Inspired by the real-life story of Maureen Marder, this 1983 romantic drama in which Alex (Jennifer Beals and body double Marine Jahan), a welder/exotic dancer (or is she a maniac, maniac on the floor?) discovers that her handsome boss, Nick Hurley (Michael Nouri), is both interested in her and supportive of her performing career.  Alex has her sites on getting accepted into a prestigious dance conservatory, in a final scene that Paula Abdul ripped off in one of her music videos.

So maybe not a huge plot, but it did big numbers at the box office ($200 million worldwide on an $8 million budget) despite bad reviews. I guess that's what happens when “take your passion, and make it happen.”

Here is a fun fact.  Did you know that there is a Flashdance Doll?   Mattel waited until 2010 to make Alex into a Barbie doll, complete with leg warmers and a torn grey sweatshirt. It’s extremely rare and expensive.  Amazon sells it for $179.

So if you are wondering what ever happened to the cast.....we got ya covered:

Oh, what a feeling.  Flashdance did bring us iconic 80's fashion and a wonderful soundtrack..so that is why we ❤️you!!!
