The Scandal Room At The Watergate Hotel
Ok, so this has nothing to do with "Hollywood" but it does have something to do with the "Hollywood Of The East," Washington DC.
The Watergate Hotel, the site of the break-in that ultimately brought down President Nixon is now embracing its history with a redesign of the infamous room 214...The Scandal Room. Decorated with a wall of news clippings, a tape recorder (that 18-minute gap) and other period touches, being in this room is like stepping into history. If a good scandal is on your mind, then this place is for you.
Now here is another Hollywood tie-in...the reason it is called "The Scandal Room" might be obvious, but what people might not know is that the suite was actually designed and decorated by the costume designer from the tv series "Scandal.' Yep, Olivia Pope's "Scandal." When you book a night in the room, you can now look through the Nixon tape memorabilia and watch "Scandal" on one of the big TVs. (the DVD's come with the room).
According to the website:
This room has been decorated in collaboration with Lyn Paolo, the costume designer for Scandal and contains items from the Watergate Scandal period. A record player with 45 singles, binoculars, a manual typewriter, a reel-to-reel tape recorder, curated book collection and several pieces of furniture serve as a throwback to the 1970s. Modern amenities are also included– a 48" flat screen TV with episodes of Scandal available for viewing. A spa-like bathroom with La Bottega amenities and two “Cover Up” robes to enjoy during your stay.
To book the Scandal Room (starting at $800 a night) click HERE I bet Oliva Pope would approve.
A real-life scandal combined with a tv show...then turned into reality....that's why we ❤️you. xoxoxo
