This Place is Disgusting

Hollywood...home to the Oscars and Emmys and now...The Disgusting Food Museum (oh boy!!!)

The Disgusting Food Museum, an exhibition from Sweden, is opening its doors for the first time in North America at the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles.  Yes this is a real museum all about disgusting food...and who says LA does not have "culture?"

The museum invites visitors to challenge their own dietary preferences while viewing, smelling and tasting some unique foods from around the world, including casu marzu (maggot-infested cheese from Sardinia), hákarl (well-aged Icelandic shark) and surströmming (Swedish fermented herring). I guess doing this on reality shows was just NOT enough Angelinos.

Do you dare smell the world’s stinkiest cheese? Or taste sweets made with metal cleansing chemicals?

“Disgust is one of the six fundamental human emotions. While the emotion is universal, the foods that we find disgusting are not. What is delicious to one person can be revolting to another,” says curator Dr. Samuel West. “The museum aims to change our view of what is disgusting or not and expose our minds to what is known as normal in other cultures.”

The exhibition will be open Wednesday through Sunday between Dec. 9 and Feb. 17. Museum hours vary depending on the day. Admission will be $15 on weekdays and $18 on weekends for adults and $10 for kids.  For more information, click HERE.  Just FYI, I am guessing most things ARE NOT gluten free so don't ask.

Not sure what LA did to deserve the honor of hosting this exhibit and frankly we find the entire thing....disgusting, so yea of course, we ❤️it.
