Cruel Intentions Is BACK

One of the best movies of the 90's, Cruel Intentions is heading back to the big-screen for an exclusive one-week engagement in honor of its 20th anniversary. THANK YOU!!!!

Celebrating Cruel Intentions 20th anniversary, Sony Pictures is re-releasing the 1999 cult classic to theaters for exclusive one-week national engagement, starting on March 22.

The movie is loosely based upon the 1782 novel Les Liasons Dangereuses and the 1988 movie it became Dangerous Liaisons starring Glenn Close. In the 90's it was all about taking classic tales and turn them modern. For instance 10 Things I Hate About You was a loose modernization of William Shakespeare's late-16th century comedy The Taming of the Shrew,

In this modern version, Kathryn played brilliantly by Sarah Michelle Gellar challenges her step-brother Sebastian played by Ryan Phillippe to a bet...he must bed virginal Reese Witherspoon, their prep school headmaster’s daughter, before the end of summer break. If Kathryn wins, she gets Sebastian’s beloved car: a vintage 1956 Jaguar. But if he wins, he gets the one things he desires most but can never have: Kathryn herself..dum de dum dum DUMMMM.

Who can forget the sexy pool scene where the world first got to see Ryan Phillipe's butt.  It was all so scandalous at the time.

In fact, this is the film that Ryan and Reese met, and "fell in love" before their daughter was born just a few months later.

Selma Blair is also in the film as Cecile, a naive young woman whose mother has enlisted Kathryn’s help to fit in at school — little do they know that Kathryn and Sebastian are plotting to ruin Cecile’s reputation as revenge on Kathryn’s ex-boyfriend who is now dating Cecile.  Remember how shocking that lesbian kiss was...ahh the 90's.

Remember, this was at a time that was pre any CW TV show or Gossip Girl and was one of the first times we saw young rich people acting so devious.  It was so good then, and we can't wait to revisit it on the big screen.
