NEW Coke Is Back Thanks To Hollywood

New Coke Is BACK, and you can thank Hollywood for it.

Remember New Coke?  Don't worry if you don't, it was an epic fail.

It was the summer of '85 and for some cray cray reason, Coke decided to throw away their original recipe and begin again with a new formula. The only problem was it tasted like crap. People revolted, wars broke out, it was a total disaster. Long story short, after just 79 long horrible days, original Coke came back and "New" Coke disappeared forever...or has it???  Enter Hollywood.

When the Netflix series Stranger Things returns July 4  for season 3, the series travels back to “the summer that changed everything” – 1985, and with an epic Coke tie in, The Coca Cola company has returned New Coke BACK to the people.

“New Coke was always going to play a role this season,” said the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers said in a joint email interview with The New York Times. “It was one of the first ideas in our Season 3 brainstorm. It was the summer of ’85, and when you talk about pop culture moments, New Coke was a really big deal. It would have been more bizarre to not include it.”

“Bringing back New Coke for the first time in 34 years seemed like the most organic way to bring this partnership to life,” said in a press release from Coke. “Our commitment to innovation entails more than launching new drinks – it’s also about taking risks and trying bold new things in fun ways to bring delight and value to our fans. Partnering with Stranger Things undoubtedly delivers against this objective.”
